I want to build a website – how to?

This is a very common question. You may find this question on young students discussion boards as well as on business online forums from people that want to learn how to develop their small company website.

If you want to get e-busy and to start learning to develop websites I am happy to help you with some information. And also to give you an idea on how to improve your skills in time.

But first, I would like to give some quick tips for quick building an website/page(s) when you don’t have time to learn or you don’t have somebody to assist you.

If you only need to quick resize images (for sending over email or instant messenger) you may find Image Resizer from Microsoft PowerToys more than convenient. It’s small, quick installing, and is at your mouse right button click. You can download it here.

You don’t need various applications like Irfan View, Batch Resize, XNView etc for this simple task only.

MS Vista: the A380 we don’t (entirely) need

I’m sure that all the analysts in Microsoft headquarters have agreed that it is mandatory to launch a bigger, more powerful OS from time to time. With each generation of OSs and software there is the need of more hardware power. And viceversa. And, of course, for the health of both markets and in order to keep the consumer demand at high levels, it’s good to force the evolution a little. And everyone is happy: more RAM demand, more powerful CPU, more storage, more applications, more and new documentation, more sales.

With MS Vista we’ve all seen that, at a point, things change. People don’t really want to adopt a new product that eats more resources but doesn’t bring new or better features/improvements. Oh, and the trend, well the trend is to minimize the size and consumption or to focus on the functionalities. At any of these we may say Google (as well as others) are a step ahead with their online free products, now also with the Chrome browser and tomorrow, as everyone expects, with a simple and efficient OS.

I think (could be only my opinion) that the next MS OS should be smaller, more resources consumption optimized and more stable then MS XP. And, of course, more configurable and customizable, so that in a few steps everyone should be able to have the best adapted OS to their needs: Multimedia entertainment, Text/Word/RichApplication processing, Software Development, Gaming, CAD, etc. Not everyone wants a shiny roaring monster he/she doesn’t (entirely) need.

cand o sa ma fac mare…

… vreau sa fiu: doctor/aviator/cosmonaut/pompier/ministru/fotbalist/vedeta/dansatoare exotica. Ultimele patru optiuni au aparut de curand in perspectiva pe termen lung a ghemotocilor intre 5-12 ani. Pe termen lung, adica pana la urmatorul film cu VanDamme sau ziar CanCan nimerit prin apropiere Bine, e adevarat si ca unii din “ghemotoci” tocmai se lasa de fumat sau isi pun al doilea cercel…

Unii totusi ajung programatori, statisticieni, analisti software/DB etc. Si mananca mult cod pe paine sau se leaga “neuronal” la diverse aplicatii si activitati computerizate (ca sa zic asa). Adica se benocleaza toata ziua in monitor si pedaleaza din degete, fac multe Ctrl-C, Ctrl-S, Ctrl-O, Alt-Tab sau chiar Shift-Tab.

Cati din cei pe care ii cunosc (“calculatoristi” deci) ar fi ales ceea ce fac acum cand aveau 12-15 ani? Simplu, nimeni, pentru ca abia daca era un 286 la 50.000 de locuitori Acum insa unii vor, altii afla ca e greu, altii dau al doilea mare plans din viata lor cand afla ca pe calculator nu sunt doar jocuri (primul mare plans e cu Mos Craciun care nu vrea sa existe), altii deja fac primul tetris in Pascal si nu ii mai pot scoate parintii sa schimbe doua bobarnace cu fiisu lu’ Popescu in spatele blocului.

Da’ ce te faci ca te faci mare si daca te uiti in casa vezi numai butoane. In magazine butoane si ecrane, in filme butoane si ecrane, in autobuze butoane si ecrane si ciorditori. Ciorditorii au si ei rolul lor sa te faca sa vrei sa ai bani sa stai “mijto in Baneasa” si sa mergi doar cu Maybachul sau cu ce merge Bill Gates, da’ butoanele si ecranele te cam fac sa te prinzi ca ori te bagi la tastatura ori o sa rada ala micu’ de tine la 2 tastaturi A, era sa uit, poate e important: daca nu te bagi, nu stii sa cauti pe bestjobs. Sau iti arata cineva dar aflii ca sunt prea putine 250.000 de anunturi pentru ca “nu au astia” nimic din ce stii tu sa faci… (exagerez, desigur)

Cred ca e evident: devenim cu totii e-busy Na linku, da-mi linku, uite touchscreen, hai sa programam device-ul. Cat mai e petrol si mai exista fotosinteza (de la palmierii din Berceni, evident), get busy. E-Busy.
